heddle check --only statistics
Statistics Page Check
The statistics check holds a numbers page to what makes a figure citable: the value on the page, its source linked, and a changelog as new as the newest figure. Without it, a numbers page that was right the day it shipped gets quoted wrong a year later, because nothing on it says how old it is. A statistics page is built to be cited, so it's held to what makes a figure citable.
When Heddle is set up on your site, this check runs on every build alongside 25 others, so a page that fails it is fixed before a buyer or a search engine sees it.
Why it exists
A statistics page is built to be cited, so it's held to what makes a figure citable. Its source, its date, and a page that says when it was last true.
On the site this came from, a "by the numbers" page (September 2026) traced every figure to a release, a company page or a regulatory filing, with the date beside it and a changelog at the foot, refreshed after each announcement. The failure it guards against is the common one. A numbers page that was right on the day it shipped and gets quoted wrong a year later, because nothing on it says its age.
For every row of the statistics family (heddle/generated/statistics.json), on its built page:
- every figure's value is on the page, and its source is linked;
- the newest changelog entry is at least as new as the newest figure, and its date is on the page;
- the page's JSON-LD dateModified is at least as new as that entry;
- the row was reviewed within site.json statistics.maxAgeDays (default 120); older is a warning, because a stale statistics page is cited wrong.
Skipped when the site has no statistics family.

Questions
What does the statistics check look for?
Statistics pages: every figure on the page with its source linked, a changelog as new as the newest figure, and a review date that has not gone stale.
Does the statistics check need an AI model?
No. It reads the built pages or the sources directly, so it runs offline and costs nothing per run.
How do I run it?
Build the site, then run node bin/heddle.mjs check <site> --only statistics from the Heddle repository.
