For people and their coding agents
An SEO playbook your coding agent can read
This SEO playbook is the method Heddle's agents and checks follow, published so you and your coding agent can use it too. It covers the technical checklist every page needs for Google and AI answers, the mistakes behind each rule, the page patterns that scale without becoming doorways, and the checks that catch each failure. Read it here, or install it as an Agent Skill.
What is in it
- Technical SEO checklist44 items, 41 sourcesWhat goes in every page's head, its structured data, the page itself and the files crawlers read, each with the documentation it rests on.
- SEO mistakes and their rules33 lessonsWhat went wrong on the sites Heddle was built from, when, and the rule each mistake left behind.
- Page patterns14 patternsProgrammatic page families: the fields each page needs to differ from its siblings, and when a pattern turns into doorway pages.
- Checks26 checksWhat each build check catches, and the failure that produced it.
- Agents16 agentsWhat each agent does, when it runs, and how far it may act on its own.
Install it as an Agent Skill
The playbook is also published as an Agent Skill named heddle-playbook. Install it once and Claude Code reads it whenever a task touches titles, structured data, sitemaps, robots.txt, llms.txt or templated pages. For Claude Code, unzip it into your personal skills folder:
$mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && curl -sL https://heddle.pro/playbook/heddle-playbook.zip -o /tmp/heddle-playbook.zip && unzip -o /tmp/heddle-playbook.zip -d ~/.claude/skillsFor one repository, unzip it into that repository's .claude/skills folder instead. Other agents that read Agent Skills take the same folder. Any agent can also read SKILL.md directly, since it links its reference files by relative path, and the skill is listed in this site's llms.txt.
Questions
What is an Agent Skill?
A folder with a SKILL.md file whose name and description tell a coding agent when to use it, plus reference files the agent reads only when a task needs them. Claude Code loads skills from ~/.claude/skills for every project, or from .claude/skills inside one repository.
Will the skill change my site by itself?
No. It is reading material: the checklist, the lessons, the page patterns and the checks. Your agent consults it before it changes a title, a canonical, a sitemap or a templated page, and you review what it does as usual.
How current is it?
It is rebuilt from the Heddle repository every time this site is built, from the same files Heddle's own agents read.
