heddle check --only assets
assets Check
allow` names that host with a reason. Origin: the source site, September 2026. The old site's images lived on the Webflow CDN, which was being retired. Every surviving URL there was a broken image waiting for the day it went dark. mjs stopped one coming back through a hand edit or a re-import. Outbound links to other sites are fine; loading from them is not.
When Heddle is set up on your site, this check runs on every build alongside 25 others, so a page that fails it is fixed before a buyer or a search engine sees it.
Why it exists
Assets: nothing a page loads (an image, a script, a stylesheet, a font, a video, an embed) comes from a host the company cannot keep alive, unless site.json assets.allow names that host with a reason.
Origin: the source site, September 2026. The old site's images lived on the Webflow CDN, which was being retired. Every surviving URL there was a broken image waiting for the day it went dark. All 349 were pulled local and scripts/check-assets.mjs stopped one coming back through a hand edit or a re-import. Outbound links to other sites are fine; loading from them is not.
site.json assets: allow [[host, reason]] hosts a page may load from (a YouTube poster frame) banned [[pattern, reason]] hosts already known dead or leaving, failed even as a link

Questions
What does the assets check look for?
No image, script, stylesheet, font, video or embed loaded from a host the site does not control, unless allow-listed with a reason.
Does the assets check need an AI model?
No. It reads the built pages or the sources directly, so it runs offline and costs nothing per run.
How do I run it?
Build the site, then run node bin/heddle.mjs check <site> --only assets from the Heddle repository.
