heddle check --only buyer

Buyer Check

The buyer check asks a model to read a page's first screen as the reader it was written for, and fails it if that reader wouldn't follow it or want to talk. Without it, a page can pass every rule and still tell the person you're selling to nothing about their problem. The buyer test. Would the reader a page is written for follow its first screen and want to talk? json).

When Heddle is set up on your site, this check runs on every build alongside 15 others, so a page that fails it is fixed before a buyer or a search engine sees it.

Why it exists

The buyer test. Would the reader a page is written for follow its first screen and want to talk? The reader is the page's persona (site.json pagePersonas, else the first in personas.json). The first screen is the result snippet, the H1 and the first three paragraphs. What a buyer reads before deciding to stay.

Added on the source site after a services page passed the paragraph gate (specific, not generic, not hype) and still told its buyer nothing, because it described the company's own strategy. Thresholds and the reason for them are in lib/gates/gate.mjs. Pages marked sells: false (a case study, the team page) are not held to "talk". Articles are left to the quality check.

Questions

What does the buyer check look for?

would this page's reader understand it and want to talk?

Does the buyer check need an AI model?

Yes. It asks a model hosted on Cloudflare Workers AI and caches each answer. Without the model it reports SKIPPED, never PASS, because a gate that silently stops judging is how unreviewed copy ships.

How do I run it?

Build the site, then run node bin/heddle.mjs check <site> --only buyer from the Heddle repository.
