heddle check --only grounded
Grounded Check
The grounded check fetches the pages a post links to and asks a model whether each paragraph says more than those sources do. Without it, a post can cite a source for a claim the source never makes, and the link invites the reader to find out. Every claim-making paragraph of a source asked. Does it say anything the pages it links to do not?
When Heddle is set up on your site, this check runs on every build alongside 15 others, so a page that fails it is fixed before a buyer or a search engine sees it.
Why it exists
Every claim-making paragraph of a source asked. Does it say anything the pages it links to do not? The independent audit of what is already published; the writing agents ground drafts against their own sources before a person sees them. Run on the source site, it found one unsupported claim in each of two published posts.
Opt-in (--only grounded): it fetches every linked page, so it touches the network and costs a model call per paragraph. Reads Markdown sources only, because links in a source are the citations the writer chose.

Questions
What does the grounded check look for?
does each paragraph stay within the pages it links to?
Does the grounded check need an AI model?
Yes. It asks a model hosted on Cloudflare Workers AI and caches each answer. Without the model it reports SKIPPED, never PASS, because a gate that silently stops judging is how unreviewed copy ships. It also runs only when named, because it fetches pages over the network.
How do I run it?
Build the site, then run node bin/heddle.mjs check <site> --only grounded from the Heddle repository.
