The answers check asks a model whether each page's opening, each section and each FAQ answer actually answers its own question in the first sentences. Without it, a page can rank and still never be quoted, because the answer to its own question sits three paragraphs down. Answer-engine readiness. AI Overviews, ChatGPT search and Perplexity quote a passage that answers the question on its own, so this asks, per document.
When Heddle is set up on your site, this check runs on every build alongside 15 others, so a page that fails it is fixed before a buyer or a search engine sees it.

Opening does the first paragraph answer the search title, and can its first two sentences be quoted without the rest of the page? sections does the first paragraph under each ## heading answer it? faq does each ### question's answer answer it in its first sentence?
Reports without failing unless site.json answers.gate is true, as on the source site, where news-style openings scored 0.96 or more and story openings 0.04 to 0.12: a house voice that opens on a moment pays for it here, and that is the company's call to make, not the check's.

Does the answers check need an AI model?
Yes. It asks a model hosted on Cloudflare Workers AI and caches each answer. Without the model it reports SKIPPED, never PASS, because a gate that silently stops judging is how unreviewed copy ships.
How do I run it?
Build the site, then run node bin/heddle.mjs check <site> --only answers from the Heddle repository.
